This was a project researching into RenderMan shaders for achieving both realistic and stylistic skin. The focus of the project was to learn more about RenderMan for Maya and, specifically, its Sub-Surface Scattering tools. The written document artefact of this project can be found here. The document is aimed at a beginner / student level audience, and is intended mostly as a “getting started” guide for RenderMan for Maya. The fruits of this research were applied directly into the short animation I was working on at the time.
I will soon write up a more detailed blog post on the techniques explored in this project.
